The Tajh Boyd Foundation

Empowering and enabling youth in SC to overcome adversity through education, mentoring, and character development for the long term betterment of their lives and our communities.

History

The Tajh Boyd Foundation was created in 2015 with a vision of changing the lives of underprivileged youth in the Upstate. What started as a simple backpack drive has grown into a long-term investment in our community. To truly make an impact, it isn’t enough to simply show up with a backpack and some pizza at the beginning of the school year. Making a real impact requires a constant and unwavering commitment through our time, finances, and hearts.

In addition to participating in summer reading groups and speaking to hundreds of at-risk students in summer school programs, and continued to serve our great community through the Global Pandemic. To date, the Tajh Boyd Foundation has handed out 3,500 - 4,000 backpacks filled with supplies to students in the Upstate. Our current goal is to expand into Anderson County school districts and use an application process to provide funding for crucial programs our youth can utilize to follow their dreams.

Our Cause

Many of us have fond (or maybe not so fond) memories of going “back to school” shopping to buy new school supplies and clothes. Now imagine having to go to school without any of the essentials that most of us took for granted. No cool new clothes. No backpack. No school supplies. It is our goal to make sure that students (and their parents) in South Carolina.

Success tomorrow starts by having the tools required for the job today. It is the goal of the Tajh Boyd Foundation to make sure that students (and their parents) in South Carolina can start each school year off without having to worry about lacking the tools necessary to help them succeed.

How it’s Done

Education

We make sure the kids in the Upstate are ready to walk out the door on their way to the first day of school. Brand new shoes? Check. Brand new clothes? Check. Backpack filled with all the essentials for another year of learning? Check.

Character Development

Having the required tools is only part of the equation to success. Our programs also support our youth’s mental and emotional needs to promote healthy character development.

Mentoring (Role Models)

Our youth need consistent role models who care about their well-being and futures. Our vision is to pair youth in need with encouraging mentors who will guide them to success for years to come.
